A “Cool” Meme? Wendy Wortham & Cindy Daniel “Work It”

A weekend slumber party with our Little Pawners, Maryssa and Makenna Mahaney was filled with activities that left this “Go Go Granny” gasping for a breather.

After officiating the Bowman Wedding, I arrived back home to get the twins ready for bed and read them a story about a talking and time traveling horse.

My team and I had a wonderful time meeting new friends and Maryssa was ecstatic that her school friend, Kylie was attending the wedding and quickly ran off together to play.

A few minutes later, Maryssa had to go to the bathroom which was a unique 3 walled structure with a toilet seat built into the boards.  Cindy and I goofed around with a photo pose.

We met wonderful folks last night abd had a great time.  My brother in law, Steve Daniel also met some friends and “visited” for several hours.  By the time I made it back to WorthamWorld, I was whipped but got the twins ready for bed and was shocked when they jumped on the bed enough to collapse the mattress which took my husband Matthew Wortham to get the bed put back together again.  This morning, Makenna slept in while Maryssa was up early to start breakfast.

Getting Makenna “up and at em” took some cajoling but we finally got her up to help with breakfast and our “cooking show” where we pretend to talk to the audience while we cook and clean (I’ve done this since my son was young and all of the children love to play along).  We all talk to each other through every step of the process and remind our “audience” to clean as you go!

After breakfast, my husband took the twins to go buy bike helmets and get ready for our “family bike ride.” Initially , Robert and Stephanie Hafele had planned to bring the dogs along but, after a few blocks the dogs were ready to go back to HafeleHouse my son and daughter in laws house two blocks from WorthamWorld.

My son, Robert and his wife Stephanie joined us as we rode several blocks to the neighborhood park and played together for a few hours before heading back to get ready for an afternoon movie- Hotel Transylvania 2.  Exhausted, this Granny jumped back into my SUV to drive us to the movie and returned home to help with dinner and video game playing with the twins. Cindy called several times to check on me and my “crazy schedule” of activities and events to keep the twins entertained.  Admittedly, the movie Sunday may have been over the top with all three of us were exhausted and in bed early Sunday evening.

Everywhere around the world, Grandparents are working and helping raise their grandkids which is no easy task!   We limp through amusement parks and we try to keep up at carnivals and we are often seeking out a bench to rest our weary bones.  You see, we never had parents to ride bikes with us or climb the jungle gym at an area park and giving the gift of our time to all of our children is very important to both Cindy and I.  From Six Flags to Disneyland and everywhere in between- we’ve “suited up” and climbed aboard that fun train.  Creating fond memories with our children and grandchildren is very important to these Texas Twins!

My twin sister had raised these lovely young ladies since birth and is a hero at “taking one for the team with me” from playing on swing sets to bike rides and homework with everything in between, Cindy Daniel is my hero and one of the “coolest” and funniest Meme’s I’ve ever known.  It’s a lot of work to “keep up with kids” but well worth it.

Being a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife and worker isn’t easy and I am so proud that my twin sister and I can still “keep up.” Meeting wonderful people and wonderful families throughout our travels? Our family couldn’t ask for a better way to spend our weekend- we do everything together!

From workng at weddings to playing with the grand twins, we value our time together as a family of twins and know that one day all of our children will look back at the zip lining, ferris wheel and other adventures they’ve shared with us and realize that spending time together is far more important than anything else you could do.

Getting up “bright and early” Monday morning, the twins rode their bikes while I walked Foxy Wortham and then we returned home to make breakfast and decorate my patios for Halloween.  Maryssa told me that she and Makenna had created a “masterpiece.”   She was right, the twins did a wonderful job of decorating and we loaded up to head to our next adventure at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.

The twins had a fun filled weekend at WorthamWorld and at the wedding Saturday and as I pulled out of my sisters driveway at the DaniekDivaDiggs Maryssa was playing with her helicopter toy from the museum and smiled while she waved goodbye with Makenna running to my SUV to tell me how much she loved her new molding clay.  My family does everything together and I’m so glad we have the opportunity to both work and play as a team of twins together!
